Find a place where you are alone and train yourself
in this way:

When you breathe in, experience breathing in.
When you breathe out, be fully conscious that
you are breathing out.
If you cherish and practice... continue...

→→→→ vertical line TOPIC: ATTACHMENTS
vertical line Posted on Nov.27.2017 @ 04:24AM EDT by QuantumZen
We are doing our best to kill attachments. And yet, they are the only things that make me feel alive and make me human. Missing a friend, reliving joyful memories... What if you are perfectly aware of this moment and it just happens to be a dull one?

What if the mountains outside your office window just aren't the same, when you are alone to enjoy the views?

What say you, internet ghosts of zen?

vertical line Sex seems like the attachment in the news these days, specifically sexual harassment. It's not my problem but it seems to be on the mind of many people. Yeah, like I said, use your best judgement when approaching someone. Usually they are suffering, and most people are not aware of the extent of their suffering. Best just ignore most people unless they ask. It's actually a very strange world, don't try to figure it out.

vertical line I heard the written word is going out of style for internet platforms i.e websites, social media, etc. Video is on the rise for marketing, advertising, blogs, forums. A site like zenguide.com is mostly written word. Just an observation. I have no assumptions for the future of zenguide.com but over the while I have enjoyed the content of this site. I'm still attracted to the written word to pass along information.

vertical line To the OP...

If we are singling out any one moment wouldn't this moment have the most astounding shape-shifting ability whether it is dull, delightful or delusional? A fine moment, indeed. Let it be attachment. Let it be full of complex feeling. Don't miss the real attachment for an idea of attachment that lingers around because someone expressed attachment in a certain way.

vertical line "Nothing matters save the quality of the affection.
Dove Sta Memora.
That's from Pound's Pisan Cantos,
by way of Cavalcanti,
on whom Dr. Hannibal Lecter
happens to be an expert, by the way.
A weird coincidence, isn't it."

vertical line What an unfortunate sleep,
With no intention to wake up.
What an unfortunate time,
To be walking around as if dead.
What an unfortunate people,
Leading each other away from paradise.
What an unfortunate me,
Thinking I would last forever.
