The Buddha was talking with Uttara, a young pupil of the bhramin Parasariya:
-Uttara, does Parasariya teach you how to develop your faculties?
-Yes, Master Gotama, he does teach us how to develop our faculties
-How does he do...
Or in your words carrying not knowing in mind. Simple. Don't carry this in head. Its very bad zen. Totally don't trust newer zen. Just original zen doctrine. This includes the bible translations. Totally stick to originals. The first zen texts are by the awakened though. The Bible is by many and some truly not awakened. For example beliefs god is invisible but small neglected passages stating quite frankly god says there is no reason for humanity to not see me for I am visible like the moon and sun ect. Or johns dream of death and remembered nothing. Excluded or neglected. Though personally I wouldn't recommend the bible at all to anyone. Reverse truth scripture is not my thing. Way to cryptic.
Do as you please of course. But a unclouded head of attention can understand and decipher reality almost instant without any attempt compared to animals who are distracted or confused very easy as they attempt to understand. I don't mind the doctrine of attention for animals or the cyclic event of consume or be consumed. But that's for animals. Not us nor should be at all.
