A monk came to say good bye to Ch'an master Niaowo (Bird's Nest). He said:
-Thank you, Sir, for everything you've done for me. Now I got to go.
Niaowo asked:
-Where will you go?
-Any place where I can learn Buddha dharmas.
-Of... continue...

BREAKFAST
CT:
The mind in the past cannot have breakfast this morning.
The mind at the present cannot have breakfast this morning.
The mind in the future cannot have breakfast this morning.

With which mind does one have breakfast this morning?

Woodsman:
No breakfast then.

CT:
Oh! A great ascetic on fastening!

softzen:
I'm off to get another breakfast.

CT:
You are on a diet schedule, aren't you?

softzen:
I'm on a schedule. You've got an agenda.

softzen:
I can't be sure. That is I think my mind is going.

softzen:
Come to think of it, I'm in two, no three minds about another breakfast.

softzen:
Actually, my mind isn't hungry.

stephen:
Chew slowly old man. MU

CT:
Neither fast nor slow. Just in its pace.

shayne:
the mind that has none of this in mind and just eats his breakfast.

CT:
Watch out! A thief of food!

shayne:
paying attention to what he eats.....mindfully.
this is zen without zen.

zen is attention.

softzen:
Stand at ease soldier.

shayne:
too late.
and i am a soldier....of my own mind.

boger!

are you?

softzen:

CT:
An athlete's having his breakfast!

fatnhappy:
whats breakfast?

CT:
Rice noodles.

Lionel:
Good moring SIR, none of those you mentioned, ..., any arising... just do it momentarily mindfully & spontaneously... without any bubble of thought...

Lionel:
...the eyes, the hands, the arms, the mouth, the teeth, the jaws, the swallow system & the clear pure mindful mind... they just carry out their activities intelligently... That's!

CT:
Racer, don't you want to eat your breakfast?

Lionel:
Oh, he already just had a bowl of noddle soup with fish ball with his wife at the hawker centre! Too bad you had missed it at the same time! Take care & thank you!

Lionel:
Oh yeah, for all activities, there must be an objective FOOD right there...?

il.nico:
when tired i sleep, when hungry i eat.

CT:
Everyone do that, don't they?

il.nico:

not everyone does that. some people think that they are eating breakfast, but they are really watching the news, thinking about what whether to drink orange juice or milk, or worrying about who they will vote for. they're mind is in the past, present, or future. but when i eat breakfast, that is all there is and the breakfast is the same as the time, and there is no past, present or future.

softzen:
No, I don't think I'll ever get the hang of this zen thing.

softzen:
Thanks for trying though. hahaha
